Sophie Ly | Evangel University Advancement

Sophie Ly '17

Junior majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry.

"My time overseas has given me a bigger picture of God's ability to use me to impact other people. I have experienced firsthand the beauty we find in serving and ministering in the areas of this world that suffer from brokenness."

Sophie is the daughter of church planting parents to Cambodia. After graduating, she plans to further her education in the medical field and eventually get involved with medical missions overseas.

Roman Musacchio ’18

Roman is a sophomore majoring in social work.

"I love that I get to learn a holistic method of understanding and helping the individual from a Christian perspective at Evangel. It is definitely not something that I take for granted."

Roman lived in San Cristobal, Guatemala, for eight and a half years with his family as missionaries. He plans to use his degree in social work to help young people and eventually become a credentialed minister.

Jessie Kue ’16

Jessie is a senior majoring in Biological Chemistry and minoring in French and Biopsychology.

"My experience overseas helped solidify my second language, which is French. Every once in a while, I encounter a French-speaking student at Evangel--being able to speak to them in their first language provides an automatic connection."

Jessie lived in Cameroon, West Africa between the ages of four and five. She spent a year there with her grandparents while her parents got their feet on the ground in the United States.

She plans to practice medicine in an urban community while advocating for underprivileged populations in the fight against health disparities.

Zachary Mann '19

Zachary is a freshman majoring in Social Studies Education.

"Living overseas prepared me for mixing and mingling with people from other cultures and allowed me to understand people from all walks of life."

Zachary was born in California, but moved to Botswana, Africa at the age of nine with his family. His father currently teaches at a bible college there.

He plans to live abroad and inspire teenagers as a high school history teacher.
