Your legacy giving to Evangel University is so much more than a financial decision. It is an investment in the mission of Evangel to educate and equip students to become spirit-empowered servants of God who impact the Church and society globally. It is an opportunity to empower students to discover and fulfill their God-ordained calling for generations to come.
Legacy Giving Options
A simple will is the easiest way to include Evangel in your legacy giving plans when your wishes are carried out. This method allows you to provide for your family first while enjoying an estate tax deduction for the full amount of your designation to Evangel.
A simple and affordable way to designate Evangel as a beneficiary of a retirement account, investment account, bank account, or your life insurance policy. This option allows you to use your account as long as you need to while simplifying your planning and avoiding expensive legal fees. When your wishes are carried out, this option will reduce the tax burden on your family and allow you to receive an estate tax deduction.
Charitable Lead Trust
This option pays trust income annually to Evangel for a period of years determined by you, after which the gift reverts to you or your heirs. The effects of this option are immediate for Evangel. The amounts paid to Evangel can be a percentage or a fixed amount, and the estate tax savings are equal to the payment amount to Evangel. The trust pays tax on its income and capital gains, but can deduct the amount paid to Evangel. After the predetermined amount of time passes, the trust is returned to you or your heirs at a reduced tax cost.
Charitable Remainder Unitrust
This option pays variable income (fixed % of value) to you or other beneficiaries for life or a specific term up to 20 years. Basically the opposite of the Charitable Lead Trust, this options pays annual income to you and could increase if the trust value increases. There is a partial tax deduction, and no capital gains tax is paid when the assets are transferred into the trust. When your wishes are carried out or when the trust is terminated, Evangel will receive the remaining trust amount.
Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust
This option pays a fixed income ($ amount) to you or other beneficiaries for life or a specific term up to 20 years. Similar to the Charitable Remainder Unitrust, except with a set dollar amount instead of a percentage of the value. This options pays annual income to you. There is a partial tax deduction, and no capital gains tax is paid when the assets are transferred into the trust. When your wishes are carried out or when the trust is terminated, Evangel will receive the remaining trust amount.
